It is so very ironic that my last post was one for my blog anniversary. A post wishing myself a better (blog) year and determination for more consistent posts. That was three months ago.
My excuse? I have plenty. But let’s just settle with one ambiguos one: I’m going through…………..some stuff. It’s been going on for a while now but in the last three months, it really started to eat me up. I wasn’t even cooking much. Come mealtimes, I find myself racking my brains for the fastest and easiest, yet not altogether unhealthy (you know, cos of the kids) meals. More often then not, you’d find sandwiches and carrot sticks being served in this household. You know it’s bad when a foodie loses interest in food. You know how Buzzfeed has all these lists of neat little things you need to have in your kitchen/bathroom/car/purse/water bottle? I thought I’d write my own little list and share with you my favourite gadgets.
So I looked up “kitchen gadgets” while writing this and OH MY GOD! I can’t believe the things they sell these days. Go on, I dare you to look it up yourself. I mean, really? A banana peeler?? Really?? The site says it’s a gadget designed with kids in mind, but I say, teach our kids to peel a banana. If a monkey can do it, so can our kids. I’d like to think that my kids are not any less intelligent than a monkey. Although sometimes I’m not so sure myself…….

Remember how I once mentioned that the Swiss like to blame all unexplainable shifts in mood and behaviour on the full/new moon? (Yes, I’m glossing over the fact that I’ve been gone for almost two months) That pretty much means we all go a little crazy every 15 days. I can attest to that. But I don’t JUST go crazy, I also go vegetarian. Wait….that DOES sound crazy……I kid!
There’s a new moon coming up next week. So I thought, why not share this recipe now so you’d have ample time to gather all the ingredients for it, in the event that you might want to go crazy with me and not eat meat for a day.
Buddha’s delight is usually served on Chinese New Year’s day and last I checked, it doesn’t fall in June. But really, why do people only eat certain foods during certain festivities?? Why can’t you roast a turkey in March? Or have hotpot in November? Ok, I may be opening a can of worms here aaaand I’m rambling.

A number of years ago, I had a severe allergic reaction. I still remember that day like it was yesterday. I broke out in hives, my tongue swelled up and we couldn’t find the entrance to the ER so we went to the children’s ER where I threw up on the floor. I was quite sad to leave the cheerful colourful children’s ER when they moved me to the regular ER. Bye Bye happy monkey, hello depressing fluorescent light. After a series of skin prick tests it was determined that I had developed an allergy to prawns. You might as well kill me! No more prawns?? Ever?? I couldn’t believe it so I didn’t.

I’ll be damned if I don’t get four posts up in February. I’m getting lazy. I mean, I’ve always been lazy but this is a whole new level of lazy. My procrastination problem is starting to be an actual real problem. This last week, I’ve done absolutely nothing, if not the bare minimum. The house is…….I can’t even find the words. But I just can’t find it in me to get off my ass and do the things I need to do, including blog posts. I don’t know what it is. Maybe it’s the weather. Maybe it’s being homesick. Maybe it’s because the chicken crossed the road. I don’t know.
